IN THE YEAR 1969, a Speedmaster landed the Moon together with the Apollo XI astronauts. Omega celebrated this event with a special series: the reference 145.022-69, the first Speedy released in a limited and numbered edition. These 1.014 timepieces were distributed as follows: from 3 to 28 were gifted to the astronauts attending the Houston dinner on November 25, 1969; 19 active members were able to take part and 3 watches were posthumously assigned to 3 members of the Apollo 1. The distinguishing feature of this first series, pictured here, is the
slightly oval-shaped letter O of Omega.
