UNDENIABLY, one of the rarest Speedy ever made: the third
series of the Alaska Project, started after the Moon landing so as to
provide NASA with a watch specifically designed for spaceflights.
The case was compliant to the “Buy American Act” and it was
manufactured by the Star Watch Casen, in Michigan. A very small
batch was delivered in 1978 for the Space Shuttle program. The
dial incorporating radial subsidiary registers has been probably
realized in only 12 examples, whilst the floating-point bezel
(0-60) is known to be made in only 3 examples. The illustrated
photograph here was sold in the USA on August 25, 1977.
